Mafia 3's Physical Deluxe Edition Seems To Be Missing Its Activation Key

Without the key, the game is unplayable.

Numerous buyers of Mafia 3’s $80 physical Deluxe Edition have reported that the game doesn’t include the online activation key required to play it. The issue appears to be affecting customers who purchased the game from both Amazon and Best Buy.

Customers report that while the physical box does contain the six installation discs needed to install the game as well as various other physical inserts, the game manual which typically contains the activation key is nowhere to be found, basically rendering the game unplayable even with the discs.

The activation key needs to be redeemed through Steam in order to verify that the game was legitimately bought, and many customers are understandably upset over having paid extra for what is essentially a glorified paperweight.

Some Amazon customers have said that they were granted refunds upon request, while those from Best Buy are saying that they’re being encouraged to reach out directly to publisher 2K Games. As of the time of this writing, 2K hasn’t offered an official statement on the matter. We’ve reached out to the publisher and will update this post if we hear back.
