Dishonored 2 Seems A Bit Broken On PC

Framerate issues abound.

If you happened to pre-order Arkane’s highly anticipated stealth sequel Dishonored 2, then today is the day in which you get to start playing thanks to the early access pre-order incentive. However, if you happened to pre-order Dishonored 2’s PC version, you might want to hold off on installing it for the time being.

Hundreds of users are reporting via Dishonored 2’s Steam reviews that the PC version suffers from poor graphical optimization, which makes the game stutter and drop to abysmally low frame rates even on powerful computers that should have no trouble running the game. Even worse, lowering the graphical settings doesn’t seem to fix the issue and some users are reporting other miscellaneous errors such as laggy mouse input and bugged leaning mechanics. It has gotten so bad that Dishonored 2’s overall user review rating on Steam has dropped to “Mixed,” indicating that the number of bad reviews in comparison to good reviews is pretty much even.

The good news is that Arkane is aware of the issue, and according to creative director Harvey Smith, is working on a fix. However, a timetable for when said fix will be ready for public deployment hasn’t yet been shared. As far as we can tell, there don’t appear to be any issues affecting the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of Dishonored 2.
