Games with Gold September 2016 Announced

The Games with Gold for September 2016 has been announced and we're ready to revisit some of our favourites

For the month of September 2016, Xbox Live Gold Members will be able to download Earthlock, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, Forza Horizon, and Mirror’s Edge.

Being subscribed to Xbox Live’s Gold allows users access to four games a month when using an Xbox One or two games a month when using the older generation Xbox 360. Xbox One users are able to download the Xbox 360 games to use on their consoles through the Backward Compatibility program. This is only possible by downloading the game on an Xbox 360 then downloading it again on Xbox One or by visiting the Xbox website and downloading it through the online store.

Earthlock is an indie RPG set to release on September 1st. Earthlock is shaping up to be an intriguing fantasy game that utilizes turn-based combat and storytelling in a similar fashion to what was popularized by Final Fantasy.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China is a side-scrolling Assassin’s Creed game that reminds us a bit of how Shadow Complex utilized side-scrolling.

Forza Horizon is Forza’s answer to arcade driving games. Where Forza focuses on the finesse and optimizing your vehicle, Horizon focuses on just the driving and racing. Forza Horizon is perfect for gamers who want to race but don’t want to get bogged down in the nitty-gritty of car maintenance.

Mirror’s Edge is a first-person parkour game and the predecessor to Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst that was released for Xbox One in June of 2016. For those gamers that plunged straight into Catalyst, Mirror’s Edge will give you a look into the background of the series.

If you’re still on Xbox 360 and paying for an Xbox Live Gold Membership, it might be time to consider upgrading to take advantage of the monthly games you receive with the membership. Even if you were to purchase an Xbox One console by itself, you are still guaranteed four games a month through the Games with Gold service. Not a bad deal considering Xbox Live Gold is only $59.99 (USD) a year.
