Mutant Football League Makes a Return

Mutant Football League, the 1993 classic 7-on-7 arcade-style football deathmatch is making a comeback!

Mutant Football League, the 1993 classic 7-on-7 arcade-style, fully 3D sports video game where creatures of all kinds take to the field to battle it out in the most violent game ever played! Mutant Football League is on the comeback with its recent launch of their Kickstarter campaign. The game has already surpassed its funding goal and is gaining tons of attention from the gaming community.

Players of all kinds loved when EA released Mutant Football League back in 1993 since it opened up a world of new environments and detailed characters for gamers to enjoy. Combining one of the most popular sports with gruesome characters and bold moves, this game is a treat. In 2013, MFL attempted to make a comeback but did not receive enough funding at the time. Four years later, they are doing better than ever and reaching those funding goals. Mutant Football League combines the ideas of a NFL Blitz title with the outlaw caliber of the 1993 Mutant Football League title.

Mutant Football League features arcade-style football with nasty mutants, ferocious monsters, deadly chainsaws, and lots of gory player deaths, along with some edgy, satirical humor that parodies America's favorite sport. The game is near alpha and fully playable now. They are planning to release it on the PC in 2017 and then Xbox One and PS4 in early 2018. However, you will need an official Xbox One or PS4 controller to play on PC. The PC requirements are: Windows 7 or higher, Intel Core i3 or better, nVidia geForce 460 or better (with 1.5+ GB of memory), 4 GB RAM or more.

Michael Mendheim, the creator and lead designer of Mutant Football League stated that “It’s the 20th anniversary of the original game, so this is an ideal time to create a new over-the-top football game featuring monsters and mutants for the many fans who have been clamoring for it. The fans have kept their interest in this series alive over the years and we want to reward them for their loyalty.  We are creating a new and very different game that pays homage to classic monster sports, and parodies the owners, coaches, sponsors, and everything else that makes football such a great American sport.”

You can give Mutant Football League a test drive so you can see exactly where the game is in development. They have stated that there are some bugs and game rules which are not working correctly (but you will still have fun playing). You are able to play a single game against the computer or local multiplayer game against friends (2 to 4 players). Since the game is pre-alpha and not fully tested you may experience some issues based on different PC Configurations.

To generalize what this game is about, it is american football mixed with bloodshed. Whether you want to throw hail marys or you want to pull out your character’s MFL approved chainsaw and rip the other team to shreds on the way to the endzone, this game is a blast.

So, even if you aren’t the sports game type of player, you should give this game a shot and try it out because you might be surprised. If you would like to support their Kickstarter, you can do so here. If you want to read more about Mutant Football League, then you can visit their website.
