Battlefield 1 might just be the next major FPS to introduce a Zombies game mode after an Easter Egg was found on the new Fort Vaux DLC map teasing zombies for Battlefield 1.
Players who were testing out the new They Shall Not Pass DLC via early access on the Community Test Environment found a hidden Easter Egg on the Fort Vaux map that might be teasing a new zombies game mode coming to either Battlefield 1 or future Battlefield titles. As seen here,
players who investigate the tunnels of Fort Vaux may, at times, experience the sound of a horrid scream crying out from a particular room with a sign marked “ISOLATION” above it. This sound most definitely isn’t human and if anything, seems to pair quite well with the sound of an angry zombie or undead character. One of Call of Duty’s biggest advantages over Battlefield titles is that Call of Duty includes zombie game modes. Considering that Call of Duty and Battlefield are always competing, it would be no surprise if Battlefield is trying to incorporate zombies into their game in some aspect. Doing so, would bring over the remainder of the Call of Duty community, the zombie lovers. Battlefield won a lot of Call of Duty fans over in the last few years due to it sticking to the classic ‘boots on the ground’ play style, but they missed out on the avid zombie game mode players. Battlefield might be finding the key to the puzzle of completely dominating the FPS scene by incorporating a zombie game mode somehow.
So, the major question that rolls out now is; Is this just a simple Easter Egg, or is it something more? Perhaps this zombie cry heard throughout playing on Fort Vaux is hinting at a Zombie game mode coming as future DLC. For other FPS franchises, Zombies is a major hit, including Battlefield’s major rival, Call of Duty. Is this DICE trying to level the playing field with a zombies story of their own? Only time will tell!
