Variety Map Pack For Modern Warfare Remastered Revealed

Activision and Infinity Ward have announced a Modern Warfare Remastered Variety Pack DLC.

Today, Activision announced that Modern Warfare Remastered will be receiving the Variety Map Pack first on Playstation 4 come March 21st.

The Variety Map Pack, which we originally saw back in the original Modern Warfare, brings 4 multiplayer maps to the game; Broadcast, Chinatown, Creek, and Killhouse. All 4 of these maps were wildly popular back in the days of Modern Warfare and we think the same popularity will ensue later this month when they release on Playstation 4. Similar to other DLC for Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered, Playstation will receive access to the DLC earlier than Xbox and PC.

Below are the descriptions of all the maps included within the Variety Map Pack for Modern Warfare Remastered.

Broadcast: Based on the TV station from the campaign mission “Charlie Don’t Surf”, this map provides a unique blend of confined corridors and wide-open spaces. Outside the station, the parking lot contains long sightlines, but once inside, cramped hallways and a computer-cluttered broadcast room provide ample close-range combat opportunities.

Chinatown: Set in a foggy downtown district, this nighttime map is lit up by flickering neon signs and a full moon. A re-imagining of the original Call of Duty multiplayer map “Carentan”, players will need to be careful on these streets, as almost every building in the map can be occupied, providing perfect cover for enemies waiting for a chance to line you up in their sights.

Creek: Set in a wide-open village ravaged by combat where concealment is the difference between life and death, a gaping ravine divides this map into two. Open clearings with sheer cliff faces and ample forested cover make this map ideal for snipers and long-range firefights.

Killhouse: A small training warehouse filled with various building mock ups that feature soft and hard cover points. Expect fast-paced and fierce firefights for maximum close-quarters chaos.

Of course, as it seems with any current day Call of Duty announcement, there is drama regarding how this map pack should be released. Currently Activision is stating that the Variety Map Pack will run users $14.99 and will include 10 Rare Supply Drops alongside the 4

multiplayer maps. It appears that some members of the Call of Duty community think charging users $14.99 for a remastered map pack is the wrong thing to do and would rather the Variety DLC be a free game add-on.

The main issue most people are disagreeing with in the Variety Map Pack DLC announcement is the inclusion of Supply Drops. Obviously this is Activision promoting the Supply Drop system once more and it seems players are tired of constantly having Supply Drops shoved down their throats.

Would releasing the Variety Map Pack in Modern Warfare Remastered without the addition of Supply Drops be a better alternative to the current scenario, or should the 4 multiplayer maps in the Variety Map Pack be added to the game as free DLC content?
