Destiny - Wrath of the Machine Guide

Everything you need to know to beat the Wrath of the Machine raid

This guide will show you how to beat the new raid in Destiny: Rise of Iron, Wrath of the Machine. With the release of Rise of Iron came a whole host of new content, and to the joy of many players, that included a new raid! It's one of the best raids Bungie have made so far. Here's our guide on how to finish the Wrath of the Machine raid in Destiny: Rise of Iron.

Vosik, the Archpriest - First Boss

The first boss in the Wrath of the Machine raid is Vosik, the Archpriest. You will need to get Vosik to 10% health before being admitted entrance to the raid proper. To do this, you will need to collect electric charges from around the map and in doing so, charge several stations. These stations jetison SIVA Charges which must be thrown at Vosik before damage can be dealt.

Step 1: Split Into Three Groups

Send two Guardians to each of the three Spinners located on the field found on the left, right, and center. One will be the Voltage Runner, and the other will defend the Spinner.

Step 2: Defend the Spinner

Voltage Eater
Voltage Eater

The Voltage Runner will need to run over the glowing vents until they collect four Voltages becoming “Voltage Maxed”. Deliver the Voltage to the Spinner you were assigned while the defender kills the Voltage Eater. Repeat until the Spinners are charged, ejecting several SIVA Charges.

Step 3: Throw SIVA Charges

Throw the Charge

All players will need to pick up the SIVA Charges and throw them at Vosik. Once enough SIVA Charges have been thrown, Vosik's shield will be lowered, rendering him vulernable to attack. Deal as much damage to Vosik as possible before his shield reappears.

Step 4: Repeat

After dealing damage to Vosik his shield will recharge and you will need to repeat the above steps. When Vosik’s health reaches roughly 10%, he will retreat and the door will open.

Vosik, the Archpriest - TV Room

The second boss battle in the Wrath of the Machine raid is Vosik, the Archpriest, whom you faced at the opening of the raid. This time the fight involves throwing SIVA Charges, destroying TVs, and retreating to special "Clean Rooms" to avoid attacks.

Step 1: Split Into Three Groups

Send two Guardians left, right, and center. Each Guardian will need to help kill the adds that spawn. Assign one player to pick up the SIVA Charge and throw it at Vosik.

Step 2: Throw SIVA Charges

Throw SIVA Charge

Begin a countdown with one player throwing the SIVA Charge first. Doing this will remove a secondary shield and allow the remaining two SIVA Charges to deal full damage to the primary shield. A short time after the SIVA Charges are thrown, a TV behind Vosik will light up with the SIVA symbol. Destroy the TV to prevent being wiped.

Shoot the SIVA Screen

Repeat until Vosik’s shield is down. When his shield goes down, unleash as much damage as possible using Weapons of Light, Shadowshot, and even Fusion Grenades along with Gjallarhorn or sniper rounds.

Step 3: Retreat to Clean Rooms

Clean Room

After dealing damage, Vosik will summon the power of SIVA and channel a team-wiping ability. Retreat to one of the Clean Rooms and shoot the panel on the door frame to seal the room, preventing the damage from reaching your team. Once a Clean Room is used it can never be used again. You will know a Clean Room is available by a light being turned on inside it. Have someone on the lookout for what room is available.

Repeat the above steps until Vosik is defeated.

Siege Engine

The Siege Engine is the third "boss" in the Wrath of the Machine raid. This section will require you to destroy the Siege Engine before it reaches you, and then fetch several engine parts and bring them back to the Siege Engine to repair it.

Step 1: Defend the Wall

Captain Delivery

Assign two or more players to clear adds while the remaining players snipe the Siege Engine. As soon as you activate the encounter, begin killing enemies to prevent them from damaging the snipers. The snipers' only concern is to destroy the Siege Engine’s guns which will open up a section at the front. Shoot the now-exposed engine to cause the left side of the Siege Engine to become accessible. Jump onto the Siege Engine and ride it into the next part of the wall.

Step 2: Kill the Captain

Skiff Inbound

A Skiff will drop off Dregs and a Captain. Shooting the Skiff’s guns off will help mitigate damage. Kill the Dregs then the Captain and once the Captain dies, three engine parts will fall: Drive Shaft, The Warhead, and the Engine Block.

Step 3: Carry Engine Parts Back

Siege Engine Parts

Take the three Siege Engine parts back to the Siege Engine to fix it. If you are not quick enough, the Siege Engine will explode and wipe your team. You can only carry a piece of the engine for 10 seconds before you become Exhausted for 10 seconds. The best situation is to rotate the pieces between each player so that when someone is Exhausted, they begin killing adds while the other person takes the part. Be on the lookout for extra Skiffs that drop off enemies as their bouncing mines do large amounts of damage.

Halfway back, a Captain called Meksis will spawn and lock the Siege Engine, raising the ramp and preventing you from carrying the parts on board. Send one or two players back to kill Meksis. A Raze-Lighter makes short work of him.

The engine pieces must be placed in the correct slots with the Drive Shaft going at the top of the ramp on the right. The Warhead is inserted in the middle. Finally, the Engine Block is up the back left of the Siege Engine. As you place the final piece, the Siege Engine will start back up and drive off the wall.

Aksis, Archon Prime - Phase 1

The fourth boss of the Wrath of the Machine raid is Aksis, Archon Prime. This boss fight is split into two distinct phases with Phase 1 requiring you to kill Captains, take their Cannons and destroy the appropriate Servitors. The Servitors drop SIVA Charges which must be thrown at special panels. By destroying enough panels you will clear the first phase.

Step 1: Defeat Captain

Captain Cannon
Captain Cannon

Assign two players to go right, left, and center. One player is responsible for picking up the Cannon that the Captain drops. Both players should work together to take down the Captain as they have a lot of health. Each Captain drops a different Cannon: Scorch, Null, and Shock, which are Solar, Void, and Arc, respectively. Picking up a Cannon will give a debuff to the player called “Charge Lockout” that lasts for 30 seconds. This debuff prevents someone from picking up and throwing a SIVA Charge, so it’s important for the three SIVA throwers to never touch a Cannon.

Step 2: Locate Servitor

Scorch Servitor
Scorch Servitor

As the Captains die, a Servitor will spawn in each area that can only be killed by the corresponding Cannon. Each player will need to call out what Servitor spawned near them so the Cannon players can destroy the appropriate Servitor. For instance, a player with the Scorch Cannon needs to kill the Scorch Servitor. As the Servitor dies, it will drop a SIVA Charge.

Be careful, if the Servitor makes it to the back of the room it will sacrifice itself and with it the SIVA Charge.

Step 3: Throw SIVA Charge

SIVA Charge
SIVA Charge

The player who did not pick up the Cannon must now throw the SIVA Charge at a panel near Aksis. The panel will have a SIVA node attached to it. Once all the panels are destroyed, Aksis will begin a Shank wave.

Step 4: Defeat Shanks

Shanks begin falling from the ceiling into the center of the room. Use tethers to generate Orbs for the team and use the Cannon to save on ammunition.

Step 5: Repeat

Once the waves of Shanks are finished, you will need to start the process again. There will be more panels in each round, requiring you to kill more Servitors. Repeat this process three times to defeat Aksis.

Aksis, Archon Prime - Phase 2

The second and final phase of Aksis, Archon Prime involves killing Captains, taking their Cannons, destroying the appropriate Servitors, throwing the dropped SIVA Charges, and then using Empowered Guardians to stun Aksis in order to deal damage. By completing this second phase you will have completed the Wrath of the Machine raid.

Step 1: Empowered Players

Shoot Aksis’ chest to begin the final phase. Split the group into three with two players going right, left, and center. Three players will become Empowered. Ensure that one Empowered person is in each area. You may need to shuffle people’s positions.

Step 2: Throw SIVA Charges

SIVA Charge Hits
SIVA Charge Hits

As before, players will need to kill the Captain who will drop a Cannon that must be used on the appropriate Servitor. The Servitor will drop a SIVA Charge that must be thrown directly at Aksis. It will take three SIVA Charges to lower his shield at which point he will teleport. Before the last SIVA Charge is thrown, ensure an Empowered Guardian is on the left, right, and center.

Step 3: Aksis Teleports

Slam Aksis to Stun Him
Slam Aksis to Stun Him

Aksis will teleport to one of four locations: left, right, back, or middle. It is important that the Empowered people are already in position. As soon as Aksis appears, an Empowered Guardian will need to jump and hold X/Square over Aksis’ back, performing a slam attack. This will stun Aksis for a short while allowing damage to be dealt. Players will need to quickly assess who is Empowered and shuffle people to ensure someone is in each of the locations.

Aksis will teleport a second time, potentially to the same spot. The Empowered player will need to slam in order to stun Aksis. Everyone should deal damage and shuffle as necessary before Aksis teleports for the third time.

Aksis will teleport for a third time. The Empowered Guardian will need to slam his back and then everyone will need to deal damage. The third slam is when you will want to use your Supers and Heavies as Aksis will be stunned for a longer period.

Step 4: Retreat to Glowing Canister

SIVA Density Critical
SIVA Density Critical

There will be four Canisters at the back of the room where you first dropped down. After Aksis teleports back to his platform, he will initiate SIVA Density Critical that will wipe the team. To avoid being wiped, players must jump on one of the canisters. Whatever canisters have players on them when Aksis performs the SIVA Density Critical attack will be deactivated for the rest of the fight. It is important that everyone stays on one canister.

Step 5: Repeat

Repeat the above steps, killing Captains, matching the Cannon to the correct Servitor, throwing SIVA Charges, shuffling Empowered players, slamming Aksis three times, dealing damage, and finishing with a high-damage round.

Step 5: Defeat Aksis

Final Stand
Final Stand

Once Aksis reaches roughly 10 percent health, he will enter a final stand similar to the Oryx raid fight. The easiest way to tell whether he’s at the correct health is whether his shield appears. If he has a shield, Aksis is not yet ready to be killed. When Aksis teleports to his center platform and does not have a shield, he is ready to be killed. Be quick with dealing damage to him as he will immediately begin a SIVA Density Critical attack in an attempt to wipe your team. Lay into Aksis with everything you’ve got. Gjallarhorn and snipers deal a lot of damage, especially when coupled with Weapons of Light or a Shadowshot.

Congratulations! If you followed this guide, you now know how to finish every fight in the Destiny: Rise of Iron, Wrath of the Machine raid.
